Boone County PSCC/911 Dispatch Named Ky Agency of the Year
Boone County 911 dispatchers come to work every day unsure of what events will unfold. No matter who is calling or what is happening on the other side of the line, they are trained to stay calm under pressure and provide the emergency services required – in a timely manner.
That training and professionalism was put to use last year, in August 2025, when two Boone County Sheriff's deputies were shot in the line of duty. The incident resulted in a multi-agency emergency response that that required 911 dispatchers to coordinate a public safety response that included 15 law enforcement agencies, four fire departments and two Emergency Management agencies, all responding across the region.
Throughout the night, 911 dispatchers served as the calm center of the storm, coordinating lifesaving resources, supporting field responders, protecting community members and contributing to the safety and recovery of the injured deputies. All the while, dispatchers were still coordinating prompt emergency services to residents in need.
For their work last year, and work every day, Boone County Public Safety Communications Center (PSCC – 911 Dispatch) was recognized as Kentucky’s 2026 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) 911 Agency of the Year. The award is given to a deserving 911 dispatch center by the Kentucky Emergency Number Association/Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials.
Please join us in congratulating and thanking Boone County PSCC for their hard work. If you’re interested in making a difference in your community, consider applying to become a 911 dispatcher and join this award-winning team.
